If you feel frustrated by a nagging toothache or an unsightly dark spot on your tooth, you aren’t alone. Many of our patients have cavities, and dental fillings are the most common way to repair the damage. Dr. Mehta and his team are committed to providing comfortable and effective dental care to help you explore the world of dental fillings.
Contact our OfficeThey’re essentially patches used to fill cavities (the holes in your teeth caused by tooth decay). If left untreated, cavities can lead to more significant dental problems, so it’s crucial to address them as soon as possible!
The best filling for you will depend on the location of the cavity, your oral health, and your personal preferences. Dr. Mehta is happy to discuss your options and recommend the best choice for your specific needs.
These classic fillings are made from a combination of metals. They’re best known for their durability and long-lasting nature. However, their metallic appearance is what makes some of our patients choose a different filling.
Made from a resin material that matches the color of your teeth, composite fillings are more aesthetically pleasing than traditional amalgam. They’re also less invasive since they need less tooth removal.
These are made from porcelain and create a natural-looking appearance. They are also highly resistant to stains and wear and tear, which makes them popular amongst patients concerned about aesthetics.
How often should I get dental check-ups?
We recommend visiting our office for a check-up and cleaning every six months. But don't worry, if you have any concerns or feel like you need to see us sooner, don't hesitate to give our team a call!
Is getting a filling painful?
No one likes the idea of drills and fillings, but modern dentistry has come a long way! Dr. Mehta offers local anesthesia to keep you comfortable during your appointment. You may feel slight discomfort after the numbing wears off, but over-the-counter pain relievers can help.
How long does a filling procedure take?
The length of your appointment will depend on the number of fillings you need. Usually, it takes our team about 30 minutes to an hour to finish a filling.
Ready to schedule? We look forward to meeting you.
